The McIntire School of Commerce examined the challenges facing the European Union—including the evolving reality of Brexit, stresses on the Euro, and invigorated nationalism—and their implications for investors and industry during its 2016 Fall Forum Oct. 14. The event, titled “Europe at the Crossroads,” took place in UVA’s Old Cabell Hall Auditorium and was presented by the McIntire School and the McIntire Center for Global Commerce.
McIntire Professor Emeritus Jack Lindgren, a highly regarded teacher as well as the driving force behind the School’s renowned Advertising and Promotions program and outstanding Marketing Area, died Oct. 23, 2016, at Duke University Medical Center, surrounded by his family.
The McIntire School welcomed another exceptional group of diverse, globally oriented graduate and undergraduate students this semester.
McIntire congratulates Dan O’Brien (M.S. in MIT ’16), Associate Vice President for Enterprise Data Services at The Carlyle Group, for having been awarded the 2016 M.S. in MIT Award for Excellence in Leadership and Technology. Recognized as an outstanding student and contributor to others’ learning, O’Brien serves as an exemplar of the M.S. in MIT Program’s aims and values. Offering expert insight into big data and customer analytics, as well as invaluable advice on careers in business analytics, some 24 industry veterans helped make McIntire’s 2016 Analytics Colloquium, held Sept. 2, 2016, in the McIntire School’s Rouss & Robertson Halls, a high-value, real-world-relevant educational event. The one-day colloquium was sponsored by the School’s Center for Business Analytics (CBA).
CarMax, the nation’s largest retailer of used cars, has joined the outstanding team of corporate partners sponsoring the Integrated Core Experience (ICE), McIntire’s innovative, real-world third-year core curriculum. Representatives of the company commenced their work with students in the fall 2016 semester.
