George Villacis

Hometown: Brooklyn, N.Y.

About me: Hi! My name is George Villacis, and I am from Brooklyn, N.Y. Both of my parents are from Ecuador, which is where I have done some pretty crazy things. I’ve gone bungee jumping, zip lining, and even eaten some small critters (it wasn’t that bad, I promise!). I am a huge (and I do mean HUGE) Yankees fan and all things New York sports-related! I also love going to sporting events, concerts, and music festivals.

Here at UVA, I am involved in a lot of different areas. I am a program director with Madison House under its Latinx and Migrant Aid (LAMA) program, which provides services to the Hispanic/Latinx community here in Charlottesville. Also, I am involved with Latinx Student Alliance (LSA), in which we create an inclusive and equitable environment for Hispanic/Latinx students at the University level. Finally, I also work at the Arts Box Office in the Drama Department and am a McIntire Ambassador!

At McIntire, I’ve really enjoyed the tight-knit community that McIntire offers and how it facilitates a lot of great team work. In my short time here, I’ve seen firsthand how students from all over the world can come together and create an enriching learning experience!
