UVA Center for Real Estate and the Built Environment
Real Estate Premier Partner
Support the UVA Center for Real Estate and the Built Environment and its mission to build bridges across Grounds and enrich and amplify the real estate experience for students, faculty, and industry and alumni partners.
The most successful corporate partnerships connect and co-create with students and faculty. With this in mind, the School has developed a premier partner program to connect the most committed partners with our real estate students and faculty.
Your company’s annual support enables the Center to pursue its mission through foundational programming supporting students and academic programs, investing in research and discovery efforts, and industry engagement events. Your engagement drives innovation in our coursework and programs, exposing students to the most current business challenges and applying theory to practice.
The Center hosts an array of career stewardship events, including a professional speaker series and a mentoring program. With the support of its Premier Partners, the Center provides essential resources, including Urban Land Institute (ULI) memberships, supports student clubs like the Virginia Undergraduate Real Estate Club (VUREC), provides Argus training, and facilitates fieldtrips.
The Center hosts learning and networking opportunities for faculty and invests in discovery through a seed grant program that helps faculty to explore critical ideas or build towards larger funded projects. In concert with UVA’s commitment to addressing Grand Challenges, faculty are working to address the most critical real estate challenges facing society.
Alumni and Industry Engagement
At an individual level, the Center hosts a number of events that continue professional career development, foster networking with others in the real estate field, and deepen industry insights through shared knowledge. At a firm level, Real Estate Premier Partners have opportunities to provide timely insights that are highly beneficial in the development of new initiatives and help to steer the future of the real estate program.
Become a Premier Partner
Premier Partnership ($5,000)
Partnership offers organizations a unique opportunity to build visibility at the University and form deeper ties with students and faculty. Premier Partners have priority access to participate in signature events targeted to students in the Real Estate Minor, Real Estate Track, and VUREC, many of which are open to all UVA students.
Expand your brand, connect with students, and invest in a partnership flexibly designed to meet your organization’s unique goals. Examples of annual real estate activities include:
Real Estate Speaker Series
The eight-part series provides a venue for students to learn about the variety of careers related to real estate. Speakers provide context for their firm within the real estate market and descriptions of entry-level roles and career paths. Using a case, the speaker illustrates current challenges, uncertainties, and innovations in the real estate industry. Networking is central to the event, giving unstructured Q&A opportunities as students explore their career interests.
Women in Real Estate Panel
According to ULI, women make up 25% of its membership but account for only 14% of its CEOs. UVA brings together the community of women in real state to share their experiences navigating the industry and showcase the diversity of leaders, perspectives, and passions in real estate.
Virginia Undergraduate Real Estate Club (VUREC)
Engage with club leadership and participate in information sessions, training workshops, case simulations, and more. Help students develop the skills needed to make good buying, selling, lending, and investment decisions.
“Get to Know” Real Estate Careers Series
Hosted by VUREC throughout the year, “Get to Know” gives employers an opportunity to introduce themselves, share ideas, and network with UVA students interested in real estate.
These proprietary assignments are used as case examples in the classroom and in exams highlighting decision architecture in real investment/development/leasing transactions.
Hosting students at your office or development site provides pre-experience students the opportunity to visit an organization, get an inside look at an industry and possible careers, and meet alumni and recruiters.
Provide a short-term immersion into your business. Whether job shadowing, networking, or working on a project, externships are a great opportunity for students to explore career options, make valuable connections, get real-life questions answered, and learn what it takes to be successful in a real estate career.
Real Estate Mentorship Community
UVA’s virtual mentorship community builds relationships between alumni and students to support their growth and development, fostering networking and promoting the pursuit of careers in real estate. Students reach out to alumni mentors who share knowledge and experiences to help current students. Mentoring relationships range from quick conversations to semesterlong mentoring to multiyear relationships that go beyond a student’s time on Grounds.
