Professor Bennett has a 25-year private and public sector career where he has worked regionally, nationally, and internationally across multiple sectors and implemented effective product management techniques in organizations including Walmart, Anthem, SWIFT, Freddie Mac, Marriott, and the USMC. He has managed large programs and launched products in space systems, healthcare data analytics, metrology, and fintech, and has been engaged with multiple startups. Most recently, Professor Bennett has trained and led the implementation of a product management model at the FDIC. He has wide-ranging research interests that have changed substantially over time. Early in his career, his principal publications were focused on coherent laser radar theory and practice, charged device models of electrostatic discharge, and failure modes of microelectronic components. Over the past 15 years, his research has been focused on the effectiveness of lean and agile systems implementation, impact of employee engagement, collaborative vs. top-down organizational structures, and effective organizational change management methods.
Professor Bennett holds a Doctor of Engineering in Systems Engineering and Engineering Management from The George Washington University, an M.B.A., also through GWU, and a B.S. in Physics from James Madison University. He is teaching Project and Product Management and other courses for the General Business Minor.
