Professor Maillet brings strong strategy, general management, and finance backgrounds to the McIntire School of Commerce, as well as international expertise, having worked for nearly 20 years in the global financial services industry as an investment banker, business manager, and private equity investor. Professor Maillet spent the early part of his J.P. Morgan banking career in New York and San Francisco and then spent nearly 10 years living and working in Tokyo, Hong Kong, and Singapore. His experience in mergers and acquisitions, public and private debt and equity financing, and general financial advisory spans a wide range of industries, including real estate, telecommunications, information technology, financial services, energy, and transportation. In addition to his transaction experience, Professor Maillet served as both Asia-Pacific COO and global information technology business manager, developing expertise in management, strategic planning, and business innovation. Professor Maillet’s experience in private equity investing focused on IT-driven opportunities across a variety of industries.

Since joining the McIntire School faculty in 2005, Professor Maillet has maintained an active interest in understanding all aspects of the global context of business, including the global financial system. He currently teaches an undergraduate course on the global business environment and, beginning spring 2024, will offer a course on the challenges confronting global capitalism. Professor Maillet also serves as McIntire’s Executive Director for Global Strategy and leads the McIntire Center for Global Commerce.
