Professional Activities: 

Professor Seaborn’s research interests are in the areas of strategy, corporate governance, and business-government relations. He has published papers and cases on topics such as the environmental performance of dual-class share companies, ride-sharing regulation, and medical marijuana regulations. In recent years, Professor Seaborn has also developed extensive knowledge of the emerging legal cannabis/hemp industry in Colorado, Canada, and other locations. He is section editor for Commerce, Business, and the Environment for Journal of Cannabis Research.

Professor Seaborn joined McIntire in 2019. Previously, he was an Assistant Professor of Management at the Daniels College of Business, University of Denver, where he taught "Strategic Management," "Consulting," and "Public Policy" courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels. In 2017, he created and taught the first-ever "Business of Marijuana" course at an AACSB-accredited business school. Seaborn was recognized as one of Poets&Quants' Top 40 Undergraduate Business Professors in 2017. He was recognized as University of Denver Faculty Career Champion in 2017-2018 and 2018-2019 and received the Daniels College of Business Faculty Teaching Excellence Award in 2016. Seaborn was a finalist for the Academy of Management BPS Wiley Blackwell Outstanding Dissertation Award in 2012. Before his graduate work at the University of Toronto, Seaborn worked in consulting at Mercer Management Consulting (now Oliver Wyman) and IBM Global Services. His research has appeared in Business & Society and Case Research Journal, and he has been featured in over 30 different media outlets in the United States, Canada, and Europe, including CNN, USA Today, Forbes, CNBC, The Chronicle of Higher Education, Poets&Quants, CBC, Calgary Herald, The Denver Post, The Boston Globe, Colorado Public Radio, and Toronto Star.
