Professor Shi’s research generally lies in the economic impacts of information technology and business analytics. Specifically, her current research centers around examining the impact and effective design of information strategies for multisided platforms, using empirical tools including econometrics, randomized field experiments, and machine learning.
Professor Shi has collaborated with digital platforms in various sectors, including e-commerce, social media, matching, and education. Many of the good practices suggested by her studies have been adopted by these collaborating platforms. Professor Shi has published in Information Systems Research. She is also invited to present her work at premier conferences and workshops such as CIST, ICIS, WISE, INFORMS, CODE and SCECR and leading business schools and IT companies. She is a 2017 recipient of the CIBER Research Award.
