The General Business Minor at the McIntire School of Commerce offers a broad overview of fundamental business knowledge and skills critical to succeeding in today's dynamic and competitive global economy. Designed for students from all academic backgrounds, the minor covers the basics of accounting, finance, and marketing and exploring digital skills for the workplace.

The core courses will provide you with a well-rounded foundation in business. The expansive list of electives, with courses from multiple schools across Grounds, provides an exciting opportunity for you to tailor the program to best complement your major area of study. By the end of your coursework in the General Business Minor, you'll be better prepared to navigate the complexities of the business landscape, make informed decisions, and contribute meaningfully to a wide range of industries and in myriad career paths.

Eligibility

The minor is open to all undergraduate UVA students who are not enrolled in the B.S. in Commerce Program or have not declared another McIntire minor. There is no application required for the General Business Minor.

To declare the General Business Minor, you must first meet all of the following criteria:

  • Successfully complete the prerequisite course COMM 1800
  • Be a rising third- or fourth-year student
  • Complete at least two core courses within the General Business Minor program
