Fourth-Year Programs

Fourth-year McIntire students who meet all credit requirements may study abroad during either semester thanks to partnerships between McIntire and multiple schools abroad.

Note: If you plan to study abroad during the spring semester of your fourth year, you may extend your graduation date until August of that year if transcripts are not received in time for May graduation. Please contact Ryan Hathaway for more information.

The McIntire School encourages study-abroad experiences and provides all students multiple options to meet degree requirements. Students must complete 60 credits "in-residence" while at UVA. Faculty-led short courses are considered "in-residence"; however, fourth-year abroad is considered "transfer of credit" and not "in-residence."

Courses taken while abroad are intended to keep students academically on schedule. All partner institutions (the same partner schools available to third-year students) have high academic standards and a selection of courses that meet the needs of McIntire students.

Students interested in a semester-abroad program should make an appointment with Ryan Hathaway in Global Programs (Rouss & Robertson Halls, Room 159).
