B.S. in Commerce

Connect With Us

Even though students do not typically apply to the McIntire School until their second year, we encourage prospective students to learn about the School, business industries, career possibilities, and the application process before applying.

We don’t track demonstrated interest in the program, and it’s not a factor in admission to McIntire.

What We Expect From You
  • Take advantage of the many opportunities to learn about the McIntire School curriculum, community, and resources.

  • Understand that we don’t track interest; interacting with our office will not influence your admission outcome.

  • Read the website for information on prerequisites and the admissions application dates and process.

  • Read the FAQs before meeting with an Ambassador or staff member.

  • If you make an appointment, show up for it or cancel in a timely manner

  • Come prepared with questions or topics you would like to cover.

  • Represent yourself in your interactions with our office (no parent/guardian inquiries).

What You Can Expect From Us
  • We’ll listen, provide honest feedback, and give you clear answers.

  • We’ll staff our walk-in advising hours consistently.

  • Trained, knowledgeable Ambassadors and admissions staff members who, if they don’t know the answer to your question, will find the answer and get back to you.

  • We’ll maintain FERPA, confidentiality, and professionalism.

  • We’ll provide many opportunities to truly learn about McIntire’s curriculum, community, and resources.

  • We’ll refer you to University resources as needed or requested.

Get Involved

Here are some ways that you can learn more and get involved.

Newsletter and Blog

Sign up for the B.S. in Commerce newsletter for information on admission, the application process, events of interest, and career development opportunities.

Visit the B.S. in Commerce blog to get a student's perspective and advice from the Undergraduate Admission team.

McIntire Ambassador-Led Tour

Each Monday and Friday, the McIntire School of Commerce offers 30-minute guided tours to prospective students and their families. Tours are not available during the summer or school breaks.

We invite current UVA students as well as prospective transfer and high school students interested in business to join the tours and learn more about our curriculum and life at McIntire. Registration is required. Note: In-person tours will not be offered during the fall 2020 semester; video recordings of Rouss & Robertson Halls tours will be posted in September.

Virtual Office Hours

During the fall semester, we're offering virtual office hours. Prospective students may access via Zoom Monday-Friday from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m.

Walk-In Advising

If you’re a current UVA student interested in McIntire's B.S. in Commerce Program, you can have a one-on-one conversation about the prerequisites, the admissions process, and the Commerce curriculum during walk-in advising, conducted by McIntire Ambassadors.

Ambassadors are third- and fourth-year Commerce students trained to answer questions about McIntire prerequisites and curricular information, but more than that, they’re ready to share their experience about the McIntire classroom experience, curriculum, resources, and community.
