What stood out to you about the M.S. in Accounting Program at UVA?
I was attracted to the idea that this program requires students to take not only general accounting/business courses that will give me valuable insights on accounting profession as a whole, but also courses in a specific field (assurance/tax) that equip me with fundamental skills and professional training crucial to future accounting practices.
I also believe that the ability to solve case problems in a team, articulate ideas/opinions to your peers, and interact with the class in a professional setting is crucial in succeeding in business. This program provides numerous opportunities for us to achieve this goal and increases our exposures in accounting applications.
The exciting career resources and opportunities are also some of the best things about this program. Gaining a broader picture of potential career options and having an awesome career services team to support us are definitely helpful.
What are you looking forward to the most in the program?
I'm excited about the "Accounting, Finance & Financial Management in Europe" opportunity over spring break. Exploring the differences in business operations may give me valuable insights on my own career options.
I’m also excited to dive further into tax field, as well as getting to know more about accounting profession in general, to give myself a better understanding on my career path.
Finally, I’m looking forward to working as a graduate assistant (assisting a professor with research) to learn new research methodology, gain knowledge about business analytics, and use the knowledge in actual future tax practice.
