About me:

Hi! My name is Ryan Bowers, and I'm a third-year student from Alexandria, VA. At McIntire, I'm planning to concentrate in Finance and Management and have a second major in Economics and a minor in Leadership & Public Policy (Batten). Outside of the classroom, I am involved in a number of student organizations. I serve on Student Council as the Co-Director of Appropriations (all club funding!), as well as on the Third-Year Class Council as the Service and Wellness Committee Chair. In addition, I'm involved in a few McIntire-affiliated clubs, including the Frank Batten Investment Fund (an ESG-focused investment club) and Enactus (a pro-bono consulting group working with businesses in Charlottesville). However, one of my favorite commitments is Club Tennis, where I play on the travel team (we won nationals last year!). When I'm not involved in extracurricular activities, I enjoy reading, hiking, and playing/watching sports.

While this is my first semester in McIntire, I've really enjoyed it so far! Having class with the same 50 other students each day has made McIntire truly feel like a community, and the professors have been amazing. Additionally, getting to work with a corporate sponsor company gives our block and group the chance to solve a real-world problem and get real business experience- something that is difficult to achieve outside of McIntire.

Fun fact: I hold the (unofficial) Virginia state record for the pacer test (136!).
