An international applicant is anyone who is not a U.S. citizen or permanent resident at the time of application. The following information is provided to assist international students in the admissions process.
Applying for Admission
International students are encouraged to submit their application as early as possible to allow ample time to apply for a student visa if admitted to the program.
If you have work experience of two years or less and your major is business administration, finance, marketing, management, or commerce, you are eligible to apply. Non-business majors are encouraged to learn more about McIntire's M.S. in Commerce. Work experience is not a requirement.
Students who completed coursework outside of the United States must submit a professional, course-by-course credential evaluation of their official transcripts. This evaluation must be performed by a professional credential evaluator. No exceptions are made. International applications will not be considered complete without the course-by-course credential evaluation. Incomplete applications will not be reviewed by the admissions committee.
Three-Year Bachelor's Degree Policy
International applicants completing a three-year bachelor's degree will be considered for admission if deemed equivalent by a professional credential evaluator. For students studying in India, for example, WES' equivalency policy is detailed here.

Much of a student’s time in the McIntire School of Commerce is spent collaborating, discussing, and presenting work orally as well as in writing. As a result, a high level of oral and written English communication skills is required of all students.

Language Proficiency Test Waiver: International students, whose primary language is not English, and who will complete an undergraduate degree from a regionally accredited United States college or university that included a minimum of two years of residency in the U.S. are not required to provide a TOEFL or IELTS score. The admissions committee reserves the right to request a TOEFL or IELTS test score from any candidate to assist in the assessment of English language proficiency.
