Ginny Rettig Award

Who Was Ginny Rettig?

Virginia “Ginny” Rettig (McIntire '00) was an inspiration and joy to all she came in contact with. Ginny’s young and vibrant life came to a tragic end Aug. 5, 2000. Those who knew and loved Ginny have initiated the Ginny Rettig Fund so that her determined optimism and spirited leadership live on at the McIntire School.

About the Award

The Ginny Rettig Award was established by her family and friends to honor Ginny. The fund supports the “Advertising Campaigns” course at the McIntire School, and each year the Ginny Rettig Award is given to an outstanding team member in the program nominated by fourth-year class members.

Nomination and Selection Process

The award recipient is nominated by fourth-year class members and selected by Ginny’s parents, Darrell and Marsha Rettig, and members of the McIntire faculty. Nominees should exhibit the traits Ginny possessed:

• A fun-loving approach to life
• Optimistic and confident leadership
