About me:
Hi! My name is Mabel Smith. I am a fourth-year at McIntire, studying Finance and Management, with a minor in Biomedical Engineering. Last semester, I studied abroad in Southeast Asia and Copenhagen, Denmark, through two of McIntire’s many Education Abroad programs. It was an incredible experience to take a 360-tour around the world and to observe so many different lifestyles and ways of doing business. Back in Charlottesville, I am grateful that UVA has provided me with opportunities to explore my many interests. I have especially enjoyed the process of creative problem solving with clients working with SEED Consulting and being involved with the entrepreneurship community while working on developing my app, Zon Loopt Running Routes, which generates safe running routes. I also love being part of the Reformed University Fellowship community, where I have learned the true value of faith and fellowship.
My McIntire experience has been nothing short of exceptional. Our class discussions are a refreshing break from lecture-style learning, making the content all the more engaging and interesting. I have been so impressed by the level of care from each of my professors—the genuine interest in getting to know me and how passionate they are in helping me be successful. The alumni network has also been immensely helpful during my recruiting process and internship experience. I will be returning to Guggenheim Partners as an Investment Banking Analyst in New York City after graduation, where I am excited to continue working with several other UVA graduates.
In my spare time, I love to run, walk with friends, and travel anywhere that involves a flight.
Fun Fact:
The summer after my second year, I taught mobile app development to high school girls in Houston, TX! I believe everyone should learn to code, and am passionate about helping young girls pursue their dreams in STEM.
